CA ACCA CFA in Nepal

The main feature of CA courses are the in-depth knowledge and the three years of practical exposure students gain during the theoretical classes and on training that is mandatory for completion of the degree. CA institutes in Nepal are not less brilliant than the institutes in Delhi or Banglore. In Nepal, there is seen a massive improvement in course delivery and instructors selection for the CA institutes in recent years. However , there are no any institute to conduct full CA course outside Kathmandu. There are few institute who say they conduct the CA and ACCA classes in other cities except kathmandu namely Butwal, Pokhara, Biratnagar but studentsnepal could not find any promising institute that run the complete CA and ACCA classes outside Kathmandu.

CA course in comparison to other accountancy/management courses

Talking back about the Chartered accountancy course, another notable feature of CA course is that it is relatively cheaper than other management and professional courses. Also it is relatively easier to get admission to any of the CA boards after fulfilling some basic criteria. This however doesn’t mean that it is easy to get the degree too.No any preparation course or bridge courses are generally required to be done to get admission to CA. (however, studying the basic accounting concepts and gaining related knowledge before joining institute is always better)

After completing CA course, a lot of opportunities are open to the members.  One can start his/her own auditing firm or work as a senior auditor in one of the established firms. Chartered accountants are sought by many top organizations for the positions like chief accountant,CEO, external/internal auditors and other top-level management positions.

The brief description and key points of the various Accounting boars recognized in Nepal:

ICAN (Nepali board)

ICAN is generally referred as Nepali board in the pools of professional accountancy boards. ICAN stands for Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal. ICAN was established under Nepal Chartered accountants act 1997. The course under ICAN is divided primarily into three sections namely CPT,intermediate and finals (with three years of practical training). Currently students can give the written exams in the exam centres at Kathmandu only.  There are some institutes outside Kathmandu valley that run classes up to the CPT level. Lumbini Banijya campus of Butwal is one of the colleges outside valley which run CA classes. But one has to go to Kathmandu to give the exams.

The qualified members get the auditing license in Nepal directly. There are many audit firms in Kathmandu for CA course to choose from. Also few audit firms outside the valley. The website of ICAN has listed 789 members under ICAN( as at 03/24/2015). The ICAN office is at Satdobato, Lalitpur (previously at Babarmahal,Kathmandu). There are few facebook pages and groups run by ICAN students that are very interactive and informative. ICAI  has  MOUs and other agreements with various big accounting boards across the globe. In Nepal, ICAI members can get the public accounting(auditing) license after passing a ICAN membership exam and completing one year of training under one of the Nepali CA firms. ICAI degree gets bachelors equivalency if achieved after intermediate level and gets masters equivalency if persued after completing Bachelors level by Tribhuwan university in Nepal.
